Appeal

If you think a mistake was made when an immigration officer turned down your visa application, you might consider a Visa Appeal.

Sometimes, if an immigration officer says no to your application, you can ask the Federal Court of Canada to take a second look at it through a process called a Judicial Review. To have a good chance, you'll need to show that the immigration officer treated you unfairly or got the law wrong.

The deadlines for this depend on where you are. If the decision was made in Canada, you have 15 days from that day to apply for a judicial review. If it happened outside Canada, you've got 60 days to appeal.

Reconsideration

If your visa application was turned down because you didn't give all the necessary information or if there was a misunderstanding, you can often ask for a second look.

It's a good idea to send in any extra papers and details that the immigration officer asked for in the visa rejection letter.
